Study Task 1: Why Am I Here? What Do I Want To Learn?

5 Reasons For Choosing Graphic Design at LCA:

  • The structure of the course is intense and therefore motivating.
  • The location - Leeds is a great student to live in as an art student.
  • The large amount of time given to the students from their tutors.
  • Great range of facilities.
  • A positive and inspirational attitude from previous LCA Graphic Design students.

5 Things I Want To Learn:

  • How to maintain a good balance of working methods.
  • How to develop my skills to a professional standard.
  • How to experiment and extend my ideas to new mediums.
  • Adapting to a professional work environment.
  • Effectively learning to blog/finding a good way to best present my work to a wider audience.

5 Of My Skills:

  • The ability to work for long periods of time, allowing time for mistakes to learn from.
  • Working with others, I enjoy receiving feedback and also advising others.
  • The ability to present my work confidently.
  • Awareness of good constructive criticism.
  • Appreciation for a wide range of media - I push my ideas through broad experimentation.

5 Things To Improve:

  • Time Management.
  • Confidence in my own ideas.
  • Organisation.
  • Realisation of what makes an idea successful.
  • A more positive attitude to my own work.

5 Ways Of Self Evaluation:

  • Analysis of blog development.
  • Ability to organise myself efficiently.
  • Observation of time management over the course of a brief.
  • Observation of experimentation and development.
  • Observation of my response to feedback.

5 Questions To Be Answered

  • What are my main priorities as a Graphic Designer?
  • What are my strengths and weaknesses? 
  • Do I want to work independently in future or among others?
  • If I work with others would I benefit better from those with the same or different interests/skills?
  • How do I want others to view me as an individual?

5 Things That Inspire Me:

  • Other people's lifestyles and how they differ to my own.. I would consider myself a 'people person' as my Mum used to say.. I love listening to other people and gaining inspiration from it.
  • Large open outdoor spaces
  • The English language
  • East London - I love the markets, art, style and unique boutiques and cafes. I would love to one day own a studio in Brick Lane!
  • My mum.. she always stayed positive no matter how hard things got and is probably the most inspirational person I will ever meet!
